The President expressed his appreciation for the strong, comprehensive and substantial development of the strategic partnership across various fields.

Regular visits by leaders from both sides, particularly those made by the Japanese royal couple, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Speaker of House of Representatives Oshima Tadamori and Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, have contributed to bolstering bilateral ties.

Japan is a leading partner of Việt Nam, especially as it is the largest official development assistance (ODA) provider, second largest investor and fourth largest trade partner.

Both sides inked the Việt Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) and are putting forth negotiations for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

There was room for the two countries’ economic cooperation to expand, the President said, asking both sides to promote collaboration in trade and investment.

"Việt Nam always welcomes Japanese businesses to increase investment in the country and will create favourable conditions to ensure the effective operation of Japanese enterprises for mutual benefit,"大众he stressed.

The Japanese official expressed his sympathy over heavy human and asset losses in central and Central Highlands localities caused by storm Damrey, believing that storm-hit people would soon stabilise their livelihoods and production.

Toshimitsu Motegi said that Japan was preparing to deploy relief activities to help Vietnamese people impacted by the storm.

Regarding the strategic partnership with Việt Nam, he underlined that the Japanese Government and enterprises always prioritise the expansion of investment and seek business opportunities in Viet Nam.-VNS
